California – Combination Work Zone Traffic Control Technician & Flagger Training Course for Cities and Counties

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is an introduction to the basic principles of temporary work zone traffic control and traffic control flagging. This comprehensive, one-day training course is designed to instruct the student on the basic fundamentals of traffic controls in accordance with the current California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) (Referred to in the California Vehicle Code, Section 21400).

NOTE: The California MUTCD and Cal/OSHA, CSO Section 1599 states, “Only individuals trained in the principles of traffic control and/or traffic control flagging should be assigned that responsibility at work sites.”

This 8-hour course provides the student with the practical knowledge needed to properly install and maintain a California temporary work zone traffic control system. The flagger training comports with all the elements contained in California’s regulations for traffic control flagging. Each student will be instructed to meet or exceed the minimum traffic control system requirements, to make system adjustments when necessary, and to provide for the safe passage of vehicles through the work zone.

Although this is not a personal safety course, personal work zone safely is emphasized. Students are required to complete a 25-question quiz. The correct answers for each question will be reviewed during the class. Also, the class will review and study solutions for a 6-case study, traffic control, work zone, work problems.
